ROYCE AND JEAN ABBEY VOCATIONAL SCHOLAR 2019
JENNY ENDONILA – BAHAY TULUYAN PHILIPPINES
 
 
The Rotary Club of Essendon is excited to be hosting Jenny Endonila from Bahay Tuluyan, Philippines on her Royce and Jean Abbey Vocational Scholarship for 6 weeks from 25 April – 3 June 2019.  The international Rotary Club supporting the Scholarship is the Rotary Club of Manila Maynilad Seafront.
 
Bahay Tuluyan is a non-Government organisation that provides a variety of programs and services aimed at preventing and responding to abuse and exploitation of children in Philippines. BT works in Manila, Laguna and Quezon, delivering social services and programs on the street and in the community.
 
Jenny’s Scholarship objectives are to:
  • develop new knowledge, skills and techniques in relation to organic livestock farming, rice and vegetable farming
  • develop skills in food processing; packaging, marketing and product branding
  • be a more effective communicator and trainer
  • establish BT’s agricultural social enterprises as effective models for other similar organisations to increase their own financial and environmental sustainability
 
Jenny will be visiting the following farms and organisations during her scholarship:  
  Peace Farm - Yarra Glen
  Jonai Farms and Meatsmiths - Daylesford
  Randall Organic Rice Farm - Murrami
  CERES - Brunswick
  Collingwood Childrens Farm
  Youth Projects - Melbourne
 
As part of her scholarship Jenny will be speaking at the Rotary Clubs of Daylesford, Leeton Central NSW and Essendon and the Royce and Jean Abbey Vocational Scholarship Committee meeting on 21 May.
