A delicious Curry feast at Nongkkha Thai Restaurant raised some $2,300 for Youth Projects to help young people at risk as part of the Rotary Club of Essendon's support for mental health.
There were 66 guests including our friends from the Rotary Club of Strathmore, members of Days-for-Girls and old members including Grant & Maggie Sheldon, Lino & Lina Airo-Farulla, Vera Maljevic, Sam & Rita Morello, Simon Cookson and Jenny Foster and other guests. The restaurant was buzzing with enthusiam and congeniality.
Michael Cariss the MC emphasised his initials MC (pun intended) started the night with recognition of the group effort of Christine Hilbert, Maria Kouppas, Valmai Burns, Lisa Lowcock and of course the instigator Sunil and his wife Miriam Perera for making the night a success.
President Dennis welcomed all and introduced us to the raffle board to help with our fundraising and was rapidly subscribed to.
Christine Hilbert advertised our next fundraiser Comedy for Cause coming up on 21 October and a must do.
The food was delicious with mild curry dishes with most helpful and friendly staff amongst much merriment.
The well satisfied guests eventual departed home into the cold cold night.
Another successful project.
A Final notice to all: Attend this Tuesday's meeting to hear from Myles McKenzie on his exciting progress through medical school in Townsville.
